as he's casually dismissed without a break in stride

Living in Tokyo, I saw many examples of sycophantic behaviour towards higher ranking individuals, particularly in business and academic contexts. This striking incident was captured on a day I found myself killing time outside a train station waiting for a friend. The disdain with which one man wore his seniority towards another had me rushing for my stylus!
